The new federal program solves only the federal side of the firearm-disability question. State and tribal law can create independent restrictions after federal relief.
Federal and state law can prohibit independently
A person may be prohibited under federal law, state law or both. A § 925(c) grant addresses federal disability; it does not rewrite a state statute.
The convicting state and current state can both matter
Federal law can look to the convicting jurisdiction when evaluating some forms of relief, while current state law can separately regulate present possession.
Tribal law can add another layer
Tribal Nations may have their own weapons and prohibited-person codes. Use the tribal-law hub to identify the specific Nation and code.
A federal grant is not a carry permit
Restoration addresses a disability. Ordinary state licensing, carry, location and weapon rules still apply.
